Baltimore, MD – Supernova, Baltimore’s newest festival, will take over the Baltimore Convention Center from August 6–9, bringing together thousands of competitors, gaming fans and families from around the world.

At the center of the weekend are major esports competitions, including premier Super Smash Bros. tournaments featuring top players from around the globe competing for thousands of dollars in prizes.

Supernova will also debut the National Free Throw Championship, an open basketball competition where participants can test their skills, climb the leaderboard and compete for a national title.

The weekend officially kicks off on Thursday, August 6, with a special Supernova activation at the Baltimore Orioles’ 12:35 p.m. game against the Los Angeles Angels. Fans can enjoy gaming freeplay setups, complimentary trading cards, a trading area, video game-themed photo opportunities and additional activities at Oriole Park before continuing the festivities at the Baltimore Convention Center.

Additional festival highlights include:


  • An exclusive concert for Supernova attendees featuring internationally acclaimed electronic artist Virtual Riot

  • Cards for Cans, a food drive benefiting the Maryland Food Bank, where canned-food donations earn free trading cards and raffle entries for prizes including Ravens-signed helmets, game tickets and more

  • Retro games, arcade cabinets and freeplay stations

  • Pickleball and other interactive activities

  • A costume contest

  • Live music and stage programming

  • Complimentary face painting and family-friendly entertainment
